Emirates cabin luggage query

I’m travelling to paris from kolkata via dubai in economy. I was wondering if there is a small purse or security bag allowed along with the cabin luggage of 7kg.

After all, they can’t expect me to open my cabin luggage every time i have to take out my passport or other documents right?

Realistically, a crossbody passport sling bag which can hold phone passport documents cards cash etc? around 4l should be allowed right? will this be fine?
