Qatar Restores Port & Shipping Activities After Strategic 7-Day Suspension

Qatar’s Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday that maritime activities will resume entirely after all shipping operations had been suspended as a precautionary measure to safeguard public safety.
“Maritime navigation activities can now resume normally for all types of maritime vessels & ships, as of the date of this announcement,” the Transport Ministry posted on X.
The Ministry also urged ship owners and operators to comply with the rules and international regulations and remain updated with the happenings in the Gulf to ensure the safety of their vessels.
On Jun 29, 2026, Qatar had given an advisory to ships, encouraging them to stop sailing and suspending all fishing activities near its shores until further notice
Doha did not give any reason for taking this step, but it came a day after a Qatari national had been killed after sustaining shrapnel injuries during “military operations in the region” and his vessel had gone missing, only to be found during an overnight search and rescue operation.
An Arab resident was also injured and was transferred to a nearby hospital.
The Strait of Hormuz conflict has deeply affected the economy of Qatar after a massive spike in its state budget.
It also paralysed LNG shipments from the country and led to a decline in the production capacity of the Ras Laffan complex after it was badly damaged by an Iranian missile strike.
