If You’re Planning a Trip to Copenhagen, I Wouldn’t Leave Without Packing This, This and This

As the Scandinavian epicentre of fashion, it only feels right to curate a Copenhagen summer capsule wardrobe, particularly if you'll be visiting this August for fashion week. But even if you simply just adore the Danes' sense of style, this compilation has everything needed for dressing like the most fashionable women in this city. Like any summer-in-the-city capsule wardrobe, you'll notice that Scandinavian summer style has its own distinct aesthetic, too. In Denmark's capital, it's a divine mix of minimalism and playful hues. You'll spot simple silhouettes and luxe-looking colour palettes in a rainbow of neutrals, but the fashion set in Copenhagen has no trouble experimenting with chartreuse, aquamarine or a bold stripe pattern.

So when flocks of fashionable people descend upon the city, what do they wear? And what's part of a Copenhagen summer capsule for the everyday? You'll get a good idea from this list, in which I've distilled eight specific pieces that have earned the approval of it girls in this city. It makes for an ultra-chic packing list if you're on your way to an exhibit at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art or stopping for brunch at Atelier September. (Both of which just so happen to be some of Dua Lipa's favourite destinations in the city.) Not to mention, all of these items work well together and within various combinations.

As far as tops go, you'll see this year's beloved peasant top trend in droves, as well as striped T-shirts and windbreakers-as-tops. Bottoms include relaxed jeans, Bermuda shorts and lace-trim slip skirts. As for shoes, Copenhagen women rotate between ballet flats, heeled sandals and loafers. Add a sweet lace bandana or a suede baguette bag, and you'll blend into the fashion crowd exceptionally well.

So if your Euro summer travel plans involve Copenhagen, this capsule wardrobe will provide everything you need for visiting the city and feeling as well dressed as its residents.

9 Pieces Made for a Copenhagen Summer Capsule Wardrobe in 2026

1. Minimal Maxi Dress

Style Notes: If there is one thing that Scandinavian fashion is known for, it's minimalism. Of course, when you're creating a Copenhagen summer capsule wardrobe, a maxi dress is certainly part of it—but more specifically one that speaks to the tenets of minimalism. Long, flowing lines, simple shapes and chic necklines are all worth looking out for.

2. Striped T-Shirt

Style Notes: Prints are having a moment. You may have wrapped yourself in polkadots this summer or have started to embrace the check trend, but if you're looking for even more unique patterns to incorporate into your wardrobe, I'll point you toward the Scandi-girl-approved striped top trend. There's a reason this look rarely ever fully disappears from classic capsule wardrobes. It adds vibrancy to your go-to tee without verging on overt maximalism, which is exactly what a style-forward person in Copenhagen would wear.

3. Bermuda Shorts

Style Notes: The length and tailored cut of Bermuda shorts give them a little more sophistication than other shorts out there, making them the perfect addition for your Copenhagen capsule. As far as making your long shorts outfits feel a little more Scandi, I'd suggest a long-sleeved button-down top and heeled sandals for a sophisticated look that's cool but has enough coverage if the temperature drops after you attend a fashion show or meet friends for dinner. Don't forget accessories like a silver bangle or statement bag, too!

4. Light Windbreaker

Style Notes: In Copenhagen, summers can come with cooler temperatures and the occasional rain shower, so a light windbreaker or shower-resistant jacket in a chic silhouette is a staple for your packing list. One with balloon sleeves or a funnel neck comes across as chicer than your average athletic jacket, and you can tuck it into a lace-trim skirt or pair of Bermuda shorts, allowing for it to double as a top. It's functional fashion at its finest.

5. Ballet Flats

Style Notes: As a wonderfully walkable city, Copenhagen requires you to have suitable shoes for racking up steps. Ballet flats are the perfect happy medium, as they're chic, comfortable and approved by Scandi, French and London women alike. They're also versatile enough to work with a wide range of tops and bottoms, which is always a must when considering what shoes make the cut when you're packing.

6. Peasant Blouse

Style Notes: This summer can be partially characterised by the return of romantic styles, and there is no shortage of frilly, embroidered peasant blouses to choose from. These elegant tops are a pretty option to wear with jeans, Bermuda shorts and slip skirts (all featured within this capsule). They're classic but have just enough detail to feel more special than a T-shirt. A puff-sleeved option or one made of crochet-style stitching is very relevant for dressing in summer 2026.

7. Relaxed Jeans

Style Notes: Scandi women know the power of a good pair of relaxed jeans. They offer the perfect amount of slouch, which brings a laidback ease to any outfit—even if you wear them with kitten heels or a blazer. There are dozens of styles that sit under the category of relaxed jeans, too, whether you like a more structured silhouette or something with extra volume. You'll also be perfectly ready for an impromptu bike ride around the city.

8. Lace-Trim Skirt

Style Notes: This summer, the lace trend has taken over the most fashionable cities. From scarves to these lace-trim skirts, tastemakers have been finding endless ways to bring this delicate needlework into their daily rotations. Slip skirts are one of the easiest ideas, as they instantly elevate your outfit. You can wear one with an extra-long T-shirt and sandals or pair it with a matching silk top for the perfect dinner look when you're sampling dishes at Copenhagen's best restaurants.
