For the last few months Excel has been behaving very strange for everyone on my team, and its a huge burden to productivity

So I work in a very corporate finance team at a large company, we have a standard Microsoft Office subscription, though the precise details evade me.

At some point around 3-6 months ago, I can't quite tell, Excel started behaving in a weird way it had never before:

• I have a window open in Excel, but clicking into it does nothing. In some cases it seems like I'm doing something in a completely different window that I've not selected at all.

• I try to close one workbook, but a completely different one to the one that I intended closes.

• Everything seems to take weirdly long to process/load.

I thought that perhaps it was my computer, but everyone across my team has been reporting the same symptoms. Things that I had never experienced before in my 14 years of working in finance and doing Excel every day.

Is it just me, or did Microsoft royally screw up some software update?

You can forget about AI tools, fixing this would be the biggest boost to productivity.
